You know when you are at the vets office and there is that ONE person with that ONE dog that is jumping all over, seemingly untrained and causing a commotion that everyone is staring and you think they should train THAT dog. That was me today. Tempe and me. Yep and it was pawsome.
Tempe is the first dog I have ever had that gets car sick. I need to figure out how to work with this since we go on rides often - if anyone has any hints or tricks let me know! She is also the youngest dog I have had in over 20 years and I have forgotten the energy is unbelievable. We train daily and I work on getting her to focus however when there is a room full of dogs, cats, people, smells and sounds that is just about impossible.
So I was THAT owner who was constantly calling her dog's name in the waiting room until everyone knew it and I'm sure everyone was SICK of it.
After Tempe's initial over excitement I was able to have her concentrate on me with training on our basics of sit, down and come with the training treats I have on me at all times.
Finally we get called to the room and she gets her check up, booster shot, and we get her flea and heartworm meds and are ready to leave. I feel like I have had a major mental and physical workout and she gets to sleep all the way home and the rest of the day. Like I said, it was pawsome.
